Questions
Is my bookmarks file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and converted in your browser, so your bookmarks never leave your device.
How do I export bookmarks from my browser?
Use your browser’s bookmark manager and choose its export option to save your bookmarks as an HTML file. In Chrome this is Export bookmarks in the bookmark manager’s menu; other browsers name it differently, so check your browser’s help. Then choose that file here.
Which links are skipped?
Only http and https links are kept. Bookmarklets (javascript:), Firefox smart bookmarks (place:), file: and browser-internal addresses are skipped, and the page shows how many.
How are duplicates found?
Two links count as the same when the host (lowercased), path without a trailing slash and parameters match once utm_ tracking parameters are ignored. The first one in the file is kept. http and https links are treated as different.
What does the CSV contain, and will Excel read it?
Columns are folder, title, url, added (ISO date) and tags. Tick the UTF-8 BOM option so Excel shows accented and non-Latin titles correctly. Titles that start with =, +, - or @ get a leading apostrophe so a spreadsheet does not run them as formulas.
Will it handle thousands of bookmarks?
Yes. The preview shows the first 500 matches to stay responsive, while the downloads always contain every bookmark. Favicons and notes in the export are not carried over.
